Euro U21 Qualifiers: BVB duo Jobe Bellingham and Nwaneri help England to comeback victory, Mainz midfielder Ruoppi stuns Spain

Borussia Dortmund midfielders Jobe Bellingham and Ethan Nwaneri helped England U21 to a commanding 4-2 victory over Kazakhstan in Euro qualifiers. Lee Carsley’s side will only need a single point from the last two games to qualify for the tournament that will be jointly hosted by Albania and Serbia.

Both players were in the starting lineup for the winners of the last two European championships. Bellingham produced assists at either end of the half-time break, while the Arsenal loanee was subbed off with twenty minutes before the end.

Meanwhile, Finland stunned Spain with a 2-1 victory in Tampere. Mainz’s new midfielder Otto Ruoppi scored the opening goal inside the first ten minutes as the hosts are now only two points behind Spain after eight rounds.

Elsewhere, Switzerland tied France in Group C after their 5-0 win over Luxembourg. Alessandro Vogt, who is playing for 2. Bundesliga side Heidenheim on a loan deal from Hoffenheim, scored his third goal of the qualification campaign.

Germany will play against Latvia on Saturday as they hope to top Group F ahead of Greece. Only the nine group winners and one best second-placed team will automatically qualify for the 2027 U21 Euros. The remaining eight second-placed nations will enter a playoff for the last four spots.
