Hamburger SV climbed to the top half of the standings after their third consecutive win of the season thanks to Miro Muheim's late winner against VfB Stuttgart. Merlin Polzin's side were without a single point before their incredible streak, which started after successive 5-0 defeats.
“It feels incredible and I haven't quite grasped it yet,” the match winner said after the game. After missing the first four games due to an injury, Muheim scored late goals to secure wins over Hoffenheim and Stuttgart for HSV.
“The emotions will probably hit me later when I get home. Celebrating in front of the North Stand was unbelievable. All the tension just melted away when the final whistle blew. We've now won three games in a row. After the difficult start to the season, we stayed focused. Now the next game is coming up and we want to win that one too.”
Muheim helped Switzerland to reach the World Cup quarter-final in the summer. He had now scored his first two Bundesliga goals when Hamburg needed him the most.
Polzin's side will face newly-promoted Paderborn next weekend before a couple of games against Eintracht Frankfurt in the cup and Bundesliga.
