In one of the changes by FIFA for the 2026 World Cup, all national associations are allowed to submit their own songs to be played in stadiums. According to BILD, Germany picked the songs for goals, victories and at specific points of games.
Similar to the home European championship two years ago, Peter Schilling's "Major Tom” will be the goal song for Germany. “An Tagen wie diesen" by Die Toten Hosen will be the song played after final whistle if they win the game. Finally, the DFB went with Herbert Grönemeyer's “Zeit, dass sich was dreht" for a signature song to be played at specific points of matches.
BILD also confirmed at least 3,800 German fans are expected to attend Sunday’s game against debutant Curaçao in Houston, Texas. The 1980s hit “Major Tom” replaced "Kernkraft 400" by Zombie Nation as Germany’s goal song in March 2024.
