Ilzer stays quiet on personnel front as Hoffenheim prepare for Schalke

Hoffenheim's busy few weeks could see them rotate their lineup somewhat for the meeting of FC Schalke 04 this Sunday evening.

Amid a hectic schedule, Christian Ilzer refused to give insights into his TSG Hoffenheim squad availability for facing Schalke this Sunday.

“We have had very intense weeks, the personnel situation is very tense. It is not yet possible to say who will be available to play on Sunday.

“We have to wait for the training session before we can make any clear statements,” Ilzer noted in his press conference this afternoon.

After a 1-1 draw away to Crystal Palace last night, the Austrian pointed out that Schalke's poor league placement won't decide the match.

“Table positions [in the Bundesliga] don’t win or lose games. Miron Muslic is doing an outstanding job as coach at Schalke.

"Schalke plays with incredible intensity and is extremely strong in challenges. For us, it’s now a matter of generating energy and intensity.

“[We must discover this] within the next two days so that we can bring our maximum strengths to the pitch,” he explained.

Ilzer also underlined the desired improvements he wishes to see his team make, both before and after the international break.

“We want to be even more consistent in exploiting our opportunities. We want to convert our periods of dominance into results.

We want to maintain our stability throughout the entire game, keeping our energy and focus high," he concluded.
