A relieved Harry Kane breathed a sigh of relief as Bayern Munich dumped Real Madrid out with a 4-3 win to reach the semi-final stage this evening.

“It was a tough game. We knew it was going to be difficult with Real Madrid in the Champions League," the English marksman said, speaking to TNT Sport.

“Obviously, they have this special connection and you need to be at the highest level to beat them and knock them out,” he added.

The 32-year-old then gave his synopsis on the thrilling seven-goal game which saw momentum change hands constantly.

“The first half was a little bit crazy, obviously getting off to the worst start possible [conceding after 37 seconds].

"But we got back into the game well and looked the more dangerous team, but their players on the transitions can really hurt you, and that's what punished us.

"In the second half, we said to be a little bit more patient. We knew as the game went on, we would get a bit stronger, and we were able to take our chances towards the end,” he said.

Kane and the German record champions will now turn their attention back to domestic events in the Bundesliga before meeting Paris St-Germain in the semi-finals in late April.
