After a recent injury setback, Jamal Musiala’s inclusion in Germany coach Julian Nagelsmann’s squad for the upcoming games against Switzerland and Ghana is in doubt.

Musiala, who returned from a broken fibula in January, suffered a relapse in his ankle during Bayern’s 6-1 first-leg win over Atalanta.

As a result, he missed Bayern’s 1-1 draw with Bayer Leverkusen at the weekend and has been ruled out of Wednesday’s return leg against Atalanta.

With Nagelsmann set to announce his squad this week, Bayern coach Vincent Kompany plans to speak with the Germany boss about Musiala’s fitness.

“I'll speak with Julian Nagelsmann on the phone – I've intentionally not done so yet so I can say it's not happened yet,” said Kompany at a press conference on Tuesday, adding:

“We have the same interests: we both want a Jamal Musiala who's 100% fit. When he shows top performance for Bayern, he will for Germany too. He'll get back to his top level, it's only a matter of time. We have the same priorities, though.”
