AC Milan are working on a deal to bring Markus Krösche to the club, according to Italian transfer expert Matteo Moretto.

Intensive negotiations are said to have taken place between the parties, with the 46-year-old free to take over the job after his departure as Eintracht Frankfurt's board member for sport was announced on Sunday.

Krösche was already heavily linked with AC Milan during the summer, but he remained at Eintracht Frankfurt at the time. Now, he could end up at the Italian club after all.

Explaining his departure from Eintracht, Krösche said he increasingly felt the need for a change after more than five successful but demanding years at the club.

"When you reach this point, you also begin to lose some of the drive required for such a demanding role," he said.
