Fresh COVID tests for Bayern quintet on Monday morning
The eligibility of five Bayern players ensnared in the German national team's COVID quarantine to play against FC Augsburg on Friday will begin with a fresh round of tests on Monday morning.
The five players forced to quarantine after center halve Niklas Süle tested positive for COVID last Tuesday are another matter. Süle's DFB teammates Joshua Kimmich, Jamal Musiala, and Serge Gnabry must test negative on Monday before being cleared to return to Bayern training. Back-up striker Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting also had to quarantine after contact tracing efforts revealed that he was a Category One contact with the infected player.
All five will be tested first thing Monday morning. Round 12 Bundesliga opponents FC Augsburg underwent their own COVID scare when it was revealed late last week that FCA managing director Stefan Reuter had been infected with the novel virus. No other players or staff members returned a positive test after Reuter's result forced a comprehensive round.
