Schlotterbeck denies decision for Dortmund has been made

Speaking to reporters after his club's historic night, Freiburg's Nico Schlotterbeck denied that he had an agreement in place to join Borussia Dortmund.
Contrary to reports emerging in Germany's main sporting tabloid earlier in the day, SC Freiburg and German national team defender Nico Schlotterbeck says he has not made a decision about is future. Speaking to the Sky mics after his side's historic qualification for the DFB Pokal Final, the 22-year-old insisted that there was no agreement in place to move to Borussia Dortmund.

"I said I'll make my decision after the season and nothing has changed in that respect," Schlotterbeck stressed, "Nothing going on until the end of the season. Then I'll sit down with the Freiburg administrators and we'll discuss everything."

While he has expressed irritation when being pressed about his future before, a departure towards the greener pastures of a larger market still seems likely for the young center-halve. On an expiring contract next year, Freiburg will likely have no qualms about cashing in on him.

Schlotterbeck himself has admitted that the time may come for him to make a career move. If his current club qualifies for the Champions' League, however, the calculus of making a perceived step up may change.

"Mathematically, if we win five more matches this year we'll be cup winners and Champions' League contenders," Schlotterbeck also noted.
