SpVgg Greuther Fürth head-coach Stefan Leitl will miss his final game in charge of the club.

On Tuesday, the Middle Franconians confirmed that Hannover 96's new trainer tested positive for COVID.

Already given a proper send off at his club's final Bundesliga home fixture, Stefan Leitl's three-and-a-half-year tenure at SpVgg Greuther Fürth now officially comes to an end. A positive COVID test will keep the 44-year-old off the sidelines for Fürth's final match of the season away at Augsburg.

Leite was officially introduced as Hannover 96's new trainer on Sunday. As reported earlier in various German press sources, Martin Kind's Hanoverians took advantage of a €500,000 exit clause in the coach's contract to bring him on board in Lower Saxony.

Reflecting upon his final time on the sidelines at a Fürth home fixture last Saturday, Leitl called the experience "highly emotional" and thanked the sell-out crowd of 16,626 for their "unwavering support".
