Terzic speaks on reunion with Rose:
"Delighted that Marco Rose is back in the Bundesliga."

BVB trainer Edin Terzic, moved up to club administration to make way for Marco Rose last season, spoke on what it felt like to face his former colleague so soon at his Thursday presser.
In addition to providing injury updates ahead of Saturday's matchup, Borussia Dortmund trainer Edin Terzic naturally had to answer questions about what it felt like to face newly appointed RB Leipzig trainer Marco Rose just over three short months after their professional relationship ended. The 39-year-old handled the matter with class.

One would expect that the relationship between the two men would be exceedingly awkward. Terzic was initially appointed Dortmund's interim trainer in November of 2020. At that time, it was no secret that the BVB front office was already courting Marco Rose and planned to ply him away from Gladbach for the next season. Terzic's job was thus just to keep the seat warm.

Rose's appointment was ultimately confirmed later that spring. When Dortmund unexpectedly began to excel under Terzic late in the year and even took the DFB Pokal, the question as to what to do with Terzic unexpectedly became a pressing one. The club's ultimate solution, Terzic was moved up to a front office job.

Calls to bring Terzic back began to surface as die Schwarzgelben failed to conquer their inconsistencies under Rose and the about-face that saw Rose dismissed and Terzic reinstated after last season amounted to a full course reversal. Terzic kept his calm about the situation when pressed by journalists on Thursday.

"I don't think either of us would have expected to see each other again so soon," Terzic noted with a smile, "I'm delighted that Marco is back in the Bundesliga. We got along really well from day one and were immediately in contact with one another. These exchanges were always very close, trusting, and common."

The trainer who spent last year in the dubiously defend "technical director" position called Rose an "outstanding coach and a great person" before swinging the line of questioning "back to us". Terzic said of his own team that he thought they were on a "good path" and "finding their groove."

For Rose, the reunions continue immediately after this encounter. After hosting Dortmund this weekend, Rose must take Leipzig to his former stomping ground Gladbach, where the former BMG trainer is rather reviled by the fan base.
