Bellingham apologizes to Davies for kick to the head
Alphonso Davies was forced off at half-time of Bayern's 2-2 draw with Dortmund and taken to the hospital with a suspected concussion after a challenge from Jude Bellingham. In a post-match interview, the BVB midfielder said sorry for the incident.
Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham has wished Alphonso Davies a speedy recovery after hitting the Bayern defender in the face with his boot during tonight's 2-2 clash between the two Bundesliga rivals.
As a result of Bellingham's challenge, Davies was forced off at half-time with a head injury and is now in hospital with a suspected concussion.
Speaking to reporters after the game, Bellingham said he asked the Bayern staff to pass on an apology to Davies after the final whistle.
"It wasn't intentional. I didn't want to hurt him and I wish him a quick recovery," Bellingham said in a post-match interview.
"His head was way down. I would never want to hurt someone in a challenge."
Bayern coach Julian Nagelsmann felt Bellingham was lucky to escape a red card for the incident.
"He has a suspected concussion, which is not surprising given he was kicked in the face," he said.
"There's no need to discuss it. That's not a yellow, but a red card."
