Modeste saves Dortmund at the death in Der Klassiker draw
Dortmund fans must've thought they were finished in yet another Der Klassiker after going down 2-0 due to some questionable Alexander Meyer goalkeeping. But, in a shocking late turn of events, BVB salvaged a point in an absolute thriller.

As expected, the newest edition between Bayern and BVB provided some fiery moments, as seen with three bookings handed out within the quarter hour mark. Both teams were dealing with numerous injuries/covid cases, but Niklas Süle starting at right-back against his former club was probably the most surprising decision.
After a fairly balanced period with few decent chances created, Bayern's patience paid off with Goretzka opening their books in the 33rd minute. Donyell Malen found himself in several good positions in the box, but BVB struggled to find an equalizer.
Bayern fans wanted a second yellow card for Jude Bellingham, who's boot hit Alphonso Davies in the face at the end of the half, but referee Deniz Aytekin refused. Bayern, who scored on their sole chance on goal, carried a narrow 1-0 advantage into the second period.
Manuel Neuer saved Marius Wolf's screaming effort just seconds after he replaced Mats Hummels to start the second 45. But, Bayern struck yet again in the 53rd minute when Alexander Meyer could not keep out Sane's powerful strike.
The record champions kept pushing for more with both Goretzka and Sane nearly securing a brace. Anthony Modeste found Youssoufa Moukoko in the 74th minute to halve the deficit and provide the black and yellow faithful with a glimmer of hope.
Just a few minutes later, Modeste missed a huge opportunity right in front of goal after some great play on the wing from Karim Adeyemi. Shortly thereafter, madness ensued, as Kingsley Coman was sent off with a second yellow card.
Then, the Signal Iduna Park erupted. Modeste scored a 95th minute stunner to finally give Dortmund fans something to cheer about after so many years of abysmal Der Klassiker performances. This was all set up by Nico Schlotterbeck, as his effort kept the ball in bounds and gave Dortmund another chance on goal.
BVB stay at home to play Sevilla on Tuesday before their difficult away test next weekend against Union Berlin. Bayern play Viktoria Plzen once again midweek and then return to the Allianz Arena against Freiburg for Matchday 10.
