Schmadtke admits Marmoush will not re-sign: "It won't work out."
Current VfL Wolfsburg sporting CEO Jörg Schmadtke has conceded defeat in the attempt to extend the expiring contract of Egyptian attacker Omar Marmoush.

"A contract extension is not foreseeable," Schmadtke noted, "As it stands, it will unfortunately not work out. That's a pity from our point of view, we would have liked to extend with him."
The report suggests that Marmoush's demands for a signing bonus wasn't palatable to the club. Moreover, a five-fold increase in the player's salary seemed too risky a bet. Schmadtke more or less confirmed these details in his further comments.
"One is always betting on the future," Schmadtke noted, "Of course, it's possible that Omar will develop into a top player at some point, but it's also possible that he won't develop as hoped."
In light of these developments, signs now point to a sale of the 23-year-old. German clubs Borussia Mönchengladbach and Borussia Dortmund are rumored to be interested. So too, however, are EPL sides such as Brentford who can obviously pay more.
Given that Schmadtke is relinquishing his role as the chief personnel executive after the coming transfer window, there could still be a chance that the 15-times-capped international might find more amenable negotiating partners in the new regime.
