Union's Puchacz heads to Lautern on loan

Polish defender Tymoteusz Puchacz - on his third loan out from parent club 1. FC Union Berlin - will feature at the Betzenberg next season.
Recently returned from a loan-out to Greece, Union Berlin defender Tymoteusz Puchacz is headed to the Pfalz next year. Union and 1. FC Kaiserslautern and confirmed a year-long loan-out for the 24-year-old Polish international on Monday afternoon. Puchacz - who can feature as both a left fullback and further up on the wing - has now been loaned out by the Köpenickers three times.

Since joining Union in the summer of 2021, Puchacz has made just three starting appearances for his Bundesliga club to date. Loan outs to Trabzonspor Kulübü in Turkey and Panathinaikos F.C. have at least enabled the one-time €2.5-million-signing to at least gain some playing practice. The new loan out should enable Puchacz to secure amble playing time in Germany for the first time.

"We are very pleased that he has decided to move to FCK," Lautern managing director Thomas Hengen in a statement released by the Pfälzer Red Deveils, "He's physically very robust left-footer with a lot of drive for forward play."

"For me, it's important to take the next developmental steps in my career and continue to gain playing practice," the player himself added, "It's nice to a club rich in tradition. I want to do everything I can to ensure that we play a successful season here together."
