Confirmed: Union capture Puchacz for 2021/22 term

Some five weeks after Poland's second-most-valuable footballer confirmed that a move to Köpenick was his first choice, all the details have been ironed out. FC Union Berlin introduced their third major signing for next season on Tuesday.
Tymoteusz Puchacz joins Rani Khedira and Paul Jaeckel as part of Union Berlin's highly proactive 2021/22 summer transfer class. Sporting director Oliver Runhert announced the signing on Tuesday, calling the third defensive-minded player acquired for the upcoming season a "top-choice solution."

Union will need additional assistance at left-back next year following the departure of Christopher Lenz. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, but Puchacz is valued at €4 million in the latest transfermarkt.de listings. The 22-year-old is the Ekstraklasa's second-most-valuable player, behind Lech Poznan teammate Jakub Kaminski.

"Tymoteusz Puchacz was our top desired solution for a commitment in this position, so we are glad that he has chosen Union," Ruhnert said in a statement, "Tymoteusz was a regular player at Lech Poznan in the last two years and has already proven his qualities internationally. With him, we get a player capable of development who can make our team even better in our third year in the Bundesliga."

Puchacz has been called up to head-coach Paulo Sousa's Poland European Championship squad, though he's yet to earn his first cap for country.
