KSC midfielder Tim Breithaupt's transfer to FC Augsburg was officially confirmed yesterday.
His medical passed, 21-year-old German midfielder Tim Breithaupt was officially unveiled as an FC Augsburg player late Thursday. The former SC Freiburg academy man now makes the jump to Germany's top footballing flight after 63 appearances for the Karlsruher SC in the 2. Bundesliga. While neither side revealed details about the transfer fee involved, Germany's Kicker Magazine again claims the two clubs settled on a purchase price of around €2.5 million.

"It was my great hope to take the next step in my career this summer, and I am firmly convinced that FC Augsburg is the right place for this," the player remarked in a statement accompanying the signing,"The talks with the people in charge and also with the coach give me a very good feeling about the upcoming season, and I can't wait to finally be back on the pitch and get to know my new teammates."

"We are very pleased that Tim Breithaupt has decided to move to FC Augsburg despite numerous other offers," FCA personnel boss Stefan Reuter added, "With him, we are getting a defensively strong midfielder who at the same time also has great qualities in build-up-play and exudes an incredible calmness on the ball."

Breithaupt is Augsburg's fourth major summer signing after defender Patric Pfeiffer, keeper Finn Dahmen, and striker Sven Michel. At the present time, there is no new news on the status of Japanese attacker Masaya Okugawa. The DSC midfielder was rumored to have been in the Fuggerstadt for a medical last weekend, but has not been unveiled yet.
