Undav speaks on Guirassy's return and hopes for German national team

With star striker Serhou Guirassy back in the mix, Stuttgart's replacement striker Deniz Undav chose some interesting words to describe his club teammate. The 27-year-old also spoke on his national team ambitions later in the evening.
VfB Stuttgart striker Deniz Undav was certainly glad to welcome his positional colleague back into the fold following Saturday's victory. Since the Guinean goal-scoring machine was forced to break off due to a thigh injury, the top-four Bundesliga side suffered two straight league defeats.

Undav - despite scoring what would prove the match-winner in Stuttgart's Pokal victory over Union Berlin - was on record as stating that he was an inadequate replacement after missing a penalty in week nine.

"Serhou van do just about anything," Undav remarked at the post-match-presser, "He could play blindfolded and just shoot. The ball would still go into the goal. I always try too step on the gas when playing with Serhou."

Undav's production numbers themselves remain nevertheless nothing to snuff at. The 27-year-old Brighton & Hove Albion loanee has done extremely well in his first top-flight station in his native country. He too scored on Saturday, bringing his tally total to six goals across all competitions.

As a guest on the Saturday evening "Aktuelle Sportstudio" program, Undav brushed off questions about both his playing prospects for club and country. The Achim-native did admit that he would relish a call up from Bundestrainer Julian Nagelsmann.

Undav has not yet had a chance to play for either one of the countries - Germany and Turkey - for which he has eligibility. While not ruling out donning a Turkish tricot, the player did let it be known where his preferences lay.

"At the end of the day it's nice to play for national team," Undav said, "but I'd love to be part of a home European Championship [in Germany this summer]. I hope [to receive a call-up from Nagelsmann. That's my dream."
