Freiburg vs. Olympiacos preview: Team news and predicted lineups

Here is our preview of Thursday's Europa League group stage clash between Freiburg and Olympiacos, including predicted lineups.

Second in Group A with nine points, Freiburg can secure Europa League progression if they can at least draw against Olympiacos on Thursday evening.

That would be a welcome boost for Freiburg, who only managed a point at home to Darmstadt last weekend in a game they largely dominated, but failed to win.

Olympiacos, who have won their last two domestic games, need a win to keep their hopes of promotion alive.

"Obviously, there’s a bit more pressure on Olympiacos, but that doesn’t affect our game whatsoever," said Freiburg striker Lucas Höler at the pre-match press conference.

"We go into every game with the aim of winning, especially when we're playing in front of a home crowd"

On the injury front, Freiburg have been boosted by the return of Merlin Röhl and Roland Sallai, who are both back in team training.

"Merlin's wound has healed well and he hasn't had any problems in training. He didn't miss much either, he was only out for a week," said Christian Streich at his pre-match press conference.

"Roland was out for a longer period of time and we deliberately left him out of the squad for the game against Darmstadt. However, that doesn't mean he will start and he definitely won't play the full 90 minutes. Having said that, it's really important for us to have both players back because it gives us more options."
