Rangnick: I'm not so sure Timo Werner will join Bayern

RB Leipzig boss Ralf Rangnick is far from sure that Timo Werner will join Bayern München this summer.
RB Leipzig have made it clear numerous times that Timo Werner will be allowed to leave the club this summer if he doesn't extend his contract which runs until 2020. But where will he go in that case?

The German international has been linked with Bayern München in particular, but RB Leipzig sporting director Ralf Rangnick is in doubt if the Bavarians actually want to sign him.

"Basically, I'm not so sure he will end up at Bayern. If Bayern were absolutely sure about Timo, they would have contacted us officially with an inquiry. Everything else would be atypical for Bayern, especially since we have a good relationship with them," Rangnick told Sport Bild and added:

"Our position hasn't changed. We don't want to let him move into the last year of his contract without signing an extension. He's free to leave this summer if a club want to pay his market value."

The 23-year-old, who has scored 19 goals in 36 apperances for RB Leipzig during the 2018/19 season, has also been linked with a move to Liverpool.
