Zimmermann pens new Fortuna Düsseldorf deal
Matthias Zimmermann has signed a new contract with Fortuna Düsseldorf.
Fortuna Düsseldorf have extended the contract of Matthias Zimmermann, the club have announced.
The 27-year-old, who joined Fortuna from Stuttgart in 2018, has put pen to paper on a new deal until 2024.
"Matthias Zimmermann is the only player in our squad who was in the line-up for all 34 Bundesliga games last season. That alone shows his enormous importance for your team. He's a very important player on the pitch and in the dressing room," Fortuna sporting director Lutz Pfannenstiel told the club's website.
Zimmermann is the second Fortuna player to sign a contract extension this week after André Hoffmann penned a new deal on Tuesday.
"After André Hoffmann, we have also been able to tie 'Zimbo' down to a long-term deal within a week. These are clear signs that we continue to build on the foundation of our team," Pfannenstiel said.
