Schalke 04 have reached an agreement in principle with Freiburg goalkeeper Alexander Schwolow, according to Bild.

'The Royal Blues' must now find an agreement with Freiburg, who reportedly want around €8 million for the 28-year-old.

At Veltins-Arena, Schwolow could replace Alexander Nübel, who will be moving to Bayern München on a free transfer this summer.

However, Schalke could face plenty of competition for his signature. According to Sky, Schwolow has also attracted interest from Hertha BSC, Ajax, Sevilla and Benfica, with a decision on his future expected to be made within a week.

After coming through the youth ranks at Freiburg, Schwolow has gone on to make 166 appearances for the club.
