If all goes according to plan, 1. FC Köln head coach Markus Gisdol should have his desired roster in place by midweek. According to an article in German footballing magazine Kicker, the club expects Union Berlin striker Sebastian Andersson to arrive for a medical on Tuesday. Hertha BSC attacking midfielder Ondrej Duda will follow on Wednesday, thus completing the Jhon Cordoba swap.

Of course, the problem with Köln is that absolutely nothing has gone according to plan this transfer period. A deal to acquire Streli Mamba fell apart when the Paderborn striker failed a medical. Multiple attempts to pry Robin Hack away from 1. FC Nürnberg have met with stiff resistance. A done deal to bring in Greek winger Dimitrios Limnios is stalled as a positive COVID test has prevented the player from traveling to Germany.

Any potential deals involving Cordoba and Hack can unravel should Duda fail his medical, which the article actually acknowledges is a risk. Kicker also reports that club has not given up on attempts to acquire Marco Richter from Augsburg or Silvére Ganvoula from VfL Bochum either.

Germany's Geißböcke have created quite the tangled web. Events in the coming days should prove interesting.
