Arminia Bielefeld are poised to complete the signing of Arne Maier on loan from Hertha BSC before the transfer window closes later today, according to Kicker.

Maier's agent, Wolfgang Damm, admitted a few weeks ago that the central midfielder wants to leave in search of more first-team football.

And with Arsenal's Matteo Guendouzi set to arrive in the German capital on Monday to bolster the central midfield ranks, Maier has been given permission to leave.

Maier, 21, has played 66 games for Hertha, making two assists.

Karim Rekik is also expected to leave Hertha before the transfer window closes, with reports claiming that the centre-back is nearing a move to Sevilla.
