Third tier side SV Meppen enters isolation
One day after reporting a record seven positive COVID tests in their ranks, Saxon club SV Meppen has been ordered into a strict 14-day quarantine.
Third-tier side SV Meppen exits the German footballing landscape for a full fortnight. The health department administering the district of Emslnad has ordered all players, coaches, and support staff to shelter in place until the consequences of an outbreak amongst the team can be ascertained. The club complied without protest.
The SVM, coached by German national team legend Torsten Frings, were slated to play SV Waldhof Mannheim and FC Bayern II over the next two weeks. Barring a reversal of the order, not necessarily an unprecedented move, both fixtures should be officially postponed soon.
