Twenty-one-year-old left-back Andreas Poulsen heads back to Vienna for his second loan stint with Austria Wien. The defender spent last spring on a short-term loan in the Austrian capital, making five appearances for die Vielchen.

Poulsen, whom Gladbach purchased from Danish club FC Midtjylland in January 2018 for a €4.5 million transfer fee, has still yet to make an appearance for the senior side in league play. He did log minutes in one DFB Pokal encounter.

The player had been the subject of internal loan talks within the Bundesliga throughout January, but rumoured deals with Mainz and several second-tier sides could not be completed.

Club sporting diretor Max Eberl made clear that the organisation was not close to giving up on a valued prospect, expressing the hope that Poulsen would "get as much practice as possible at a high level."
