Bayern München 4-2 Borussia Dortmund: Post-match reactions
Bayern München bounced back from being two goals down as they beat Borussia Dortmund 4-2 in the Bundesliga on Saturday. Here are the reactions to the game.
Hansi Flick, Bayern München coach:
"At the moment, we are getting punished quickly when the opponent have an early chance to score. But it's positive that we bounced back quickly. We got a bit lucky in the end, but it was a deserved win."
On Jerome Boateng's injury: "When he left, he said he twisted his knee. We don't have an exact diagnosis yet. We'll have to wait and see."
Robert Lewandowski, Bayern München:
"We know that maybe we didn't play well for the first 15-20 minutes, but after conceding the first goal, we knew that we had to push forward to score. That's what we wanted to do from the first minute. We had the game under control in the second half and tried to score another goal because we want to get the three points. We did, and I think that was something special. We showed everyone that we want to stay in first place."
Leon Goretzka, Bayern München:
"We've had it a few times this season where we've not quite been at it in the first 10 minutes or opening stages. You also have to say we were unlucky. Of course, we lost the ball at some point, but it wasn't like they played through us. It was as bad a start as you can imagine, but we have the quality to come together and start the fightback."
Edin Terzic, Borussia Dortmund coach:
"It started great and ended very badly. In between there was a big period of pressure from Bayern. We weren't good enough at putting pressure on the ball."
On the substitution of Erling Haaland in the second half: "It was clear that Erling wouldn't play the whole match. He got a small blow to his achilles tendon, but it wasn't bad. I have to protect him because he plays a lot."
Marco Reus, Borussia Dortmund captain:
"Unnecessary. We knocked ourselves off our stride. We could have won here today. We were in a super position at 2-0, but then did too little. At the end, it's down to quality. And we showed too little going forward in the second half.
"In my opinion, Bayern committed a clear foul before making it 3-2. I'll tell you honestly, if it had been against Bayern, it would have been whistled. That's just the way it is."
Emre Can, Borussia Dortmund:
"We weren't good enough today. We had a great start, but stopped playing football for some reason. Bayern did well, and they are one of the best teams in the world, but we should have played with more courage."
"The referee blew his whistle too much in the second half, and that ruined the rhythm of the game. That shouldn't happen, and I told the referee that personally."
