Schalke 04's inevitable relegation from the Bundesliga was confirmed as they fell to 1-0 defeat at the hands of Arminia Bielefeld on Tuesday.

Fabian Klos scored the winner in the 50th minute and missed a penalty as Bielefeld stunned Dimitrios Grammozis' troops, who were reduced to 10 men when Malick Thiaw was shown his second yellow card with 71 minutes played.

Tuesday's defeat leaves bottom-placed Schalke 13 points behind the relegation play-off spot with just 12 games left to play for this season.

Bielefeld, meanwhile, jump to 14th, having played two games more than Mainz and Hertha BSC, who sit 15th and 16th, respectively.
