‘The Special One’ has long been an admirer of Sabitzer and was even touted as a potential transfer to Mourinho’s ex-club Tottenham Hotspur during the Portuguese’s tenure last year. He reportedly even asked the Spurs recruitment team to identify him as a target, but nothing materialized.

According to latest reports from Italy, Mourinho has demanded Sabitzer from Leipzig as his top priority signing for the Giallorossi.

The Austrian central midfielder has a market value of €42m, according to transfermarkt, and his contract in East Germany runs out at the end of the current season.

He is one of Bundesliga’s most coveted midfielders and would be a formidable signing for any team.

Apart from AS Roma, Liverpool & Manchester United have also showed interest in signing the 27-year-old.

Sabitzer has scored 8 goals and made 7 assists in 35 appearances for RB Leipzig this season.
