Liverpool Echo is also reporting that the Premier League outfit could make a move for the Austrian international, who has previously been linked with Manchester United.

However, Baumgartner only just extended his contract with Hoffenheim until 2025 back in March.

According to Kicker, it's possible that his deal includes a release clause in the region of €30 million, but it's doubtful that such a clause would be active just a few months after the contract was signed.

The 21-year-old attacking midfielder scored nine goals and made seven assists in 41 appearances for Hoffenheim last season.
