Training camp breakthroughs: Bayern set to keep Stanisic, Rose intends to retain young trio

As Bundesliga training camps wind down, reports begin to surface concerning which young players have made a strong enough impression to remain with the senior side through the opening of the season. The intrigue of the unexpected constitutes one of the best parts of the campaign's start.

Bavaria's big tabloid, the Münchener-Absenzeitiung, opines that fullback Josip Stanisic has almost certainly earned a permanent roster spot at the FCB.

Meanwhile, NRW's Ruhr-Nachrichten reports that Marco Rose intends to keep three of the youngsters on his over-sized camp roster.

Josip Stanisic, a young German-Croat who played well in his debut with Bayern's first-team late last year, has featured in new head-coach Julian Nagelsmann's starting XI for four consecutive matches. The youngster has been filling in at left-back, even though right fullback remains his preferred position.

This counts as a very interesting development as most had assumed that Omar Richards would deputize at left-back whilst the club waits for Alphonso Davies to once again get fit. The Bavarian "Boulevard-Zeitung" reports that Nagelsmann has been impressed with his performances. The paper's own editorial staff notes that Richards' work appears more of a "mixed bag".

In a separate training camp surprise, it looks as if Marco Rose actually wishes to keep three of the young players on his 37-man camp-roster. This also counts as a surprise as most presumed that virtually all of the young players would be headed back to the reserves.

According to the NRW local paper, center back Lennard Maloney is likely to remain along with central midfielders Antonis Papadopoulos and Göktan Gürprüz. Their retention may have something to do with the club's current deficit at the center-halve position. Rose desperately requires back-ups for central defense.

The 21-year-old Maloney, of mixed German and American heritage, is actually a talent who has been on the radars of some for a couple of years. Papadopoulos (21) was picked up from Hallescher FC this summer whilst Gürprüz (18) worked with Dortmund U19s last year.
