German record champions FC Bayern München - in a deal skillfully negotiated by then FCB board member for sport Hasan Salihamidzic - have now almost certainly secured a significant amount of cash on the transfer of former striker Joshua Zirkzee to Manchester United. Although the official transfer fee the English Red Devils ended up paying to FC Bologna was not officially divulged, multiple footballing media sources claim that the 23-year-old cost United over €40 million.

It never was a secret that the Salihamidzic-negotiated deal contained an uncommon 50 percent re-sale clause. Bayern have thus won a sweepstakes of sorts and secured about €20 million themselves for their former prospect. Total Bayern outlays this summer (factoring in the purchases of Hiroki Ito, Michael Olise, and Joao Palhinha) total around €120 million. Prior to this inlay, the only cash flowing into the FCB coffers came via Malik Tillman's reported €12 million sale to PSV in early May.
