Official: Fortuna Düsseldorf make Tzolis' loan permanent

Christos Tzolis has joined Fortuna Düsseldorf on a permanent basis after the 2. Bundesliga club triggered a purchase option in his loan deal from Norwich City.

Fortuna Düsseldorf have confirmed that Christos Tzolis' loan from Norwich City has been made permanent.

The 2. Bundesliga club have triggered a buyout option, reportedly set at €3.5 million, to tie the Greek winger down to a permanent deal.

However, it remains to be seen whether Tzolis will remain at Fortuna, with the club's director of sport, Klaus Allofs, revealing that the 22-year-old's new deal with the German club includes a release clause.

“We have exercised the agreed purchase option for Christos Tzolis at Norwich City. This is a good moment for Fortuna, but without being too euphoric,” Allofs said.

“The contract negotiated a year ago could only be concluded with one restriction. It contains a buy-out clause that allows the player to change clubs under certain conditions during the upcoming transfer window.”

Tzolis was a revelation for Fortuna in the 2023/24 season, scoring 24 goals and adding 10 assists in 37 appearances in all competitions.
