As officially announced by the Bundesliga club this afternoon, Paul Nebel has extended his contract with 1. FSV Mainz 05.
The midfielder, who joined the club at Bruchweg as a 13-year-old, progressed through all the youth teams at Mainz's academy.
Nebel has worn the 05ers' jersey for over ten years, with the exception of a two-year loan spell at second division side Karlsruher SC.
Still only 24 years of age, Nebel has already made 95 appearances in all competitions for Mainz, providing 15 goals and 18 assists.
“Paul is the prime example of how a player from our own youth academy can develop into a very important player for our Bundesliga team.
“He has shown a lot of passion, patience and a down-to-earth attitude,” explained Mainz sporting director Niko Bungert.
"Paul is an important and reliable pillar for our team and someone who has shown in recent years that he is always there when needed.
"We are happy that we have found a very good solution for our future together with him.”
