VfL Wolfsburg beat Sturm Graz 8-1 on aggregate to book their Round of 16 spot in the UEFA Women’s Europa Cup. Goals from Lou Bogaert and Anny Kerim-Lindland secured a 2-0 second-leg victory for Stephan Lerch’s side in Austria on Wednesday.
The Frauen-Bundesliga outfit rotated the starting lineup as they had a healthy 6-1 lead from last week. French international Bogaert scored her first goal for the club at the half-hour mark.
Kerim-Lindland doubled their advantage in the evening a couple of minutes after replacing fellow striker Lara Prasnikar. The two new signings are taking the huge responsibility of replicating club legend Alexandra Popp’s output.
In their first participation in the competition that started last season, Wolfsburg will discover their next opponents in Friday’s draw. Meanwhile, they will host Hamburger SV on Sunday before the international break.
