Women's Football: Germany name 24-player squad for home friendlies against Australia and Japan

Germany named their squad for the upcoming women's international break as they prepare to face Australia and Japan in high-profile friendlies. While the playoff rounds of the qualifying stage set to be played, Germany already booked their place in the Women's World Cup by finishing top of their group ahead of Norway.
Christian Wück called 24 players for the tests in October as he called the fixtures “exactly the kind of games we need to keep developing as a team and take the next steps forward”. DFB confirmed over 20,000 tickets are already sold for both games in Karlsruhe (vs. Australia on 9th October, 20:30 CEST) and Bremen (vs. Japan on 13th October, 17:45 CEST).
Arsenal’s new signings Selina Cerci and Lisa Baum are in the squad, with the latter getting her first call after a solid start to life in WSL. Meanwhile, FC Bayern duo Giulia Gwinn and Franziska Kett, Wolfsburg's Cora Zicai, goalkeeper Laura Dick and Bilbao’s Bibiane Schulze Solano all returned to the national team setup.
With the absence of long-serving number one Ann-Katrin Berger after discussions with the coaching staff, Bayern’s Ena Mahmutovic will likely start between the sticks for Germany. Meanwhile, Kathrin Hendrich, Rebecca Knaak and Nicole Anyomi are absent due to injuries and fitness issues.
