Sport1 Report: Alario heads to Argentina for transfer talks

German broadcaster Sport 1 reports that Argentine attacker Lucas Alario of Eintracht Frankfurt has returned to his home country ahead of the winter break in order to negotiate a January move.
After 18 months mostly warming the Eintracht Frankfurt bench, it appears as if 31-year-old Argentine international Lucas Alario may finally be preparing to depart German football. The long-time Leverkusen mainstay scored just one goal in 25 appearances across all competitions for the RheinMain Adler last season. Despite the fact that the SGE striker situation after the summer transfer window accorded him an opportunity to land a more regular role, a knee injury precluded him from making any appearances under new Eintracht trainer Dino Toppmöller.

German journalist Christopher Michel of German broadcaster Sport1 reports that Alario has flown back to Buenos Aires two match-days ahead of the coming winter break in order to negotiate with interested clubs in his home country. Alario joined Leverkusen from Argentine club River Plate in 2017. He scored 60 goals across all competitions for Germany's red company team over the course of five seasons before heading to Hessen in the summer of 2022.
