10 Bundesliga newcomers to watch out for this season
Several big names have joined the Bundesliga over the summer. Here are some of the new faces to keep an eye on.
Harry Kane, Bayern Munich
Having joined from Tottenham for a club-record fee, Harry Kane will be under pressure to impress from day one at Bayern Munich, with the German champions hoping the England captain can be the replacement for Robert Lewandowski that they so sorely missed last season.
Kim Min-jae, Bayern Munich
Fast, strong, cool and calm, the South Korea international was one of the keys to Napoli's success last season. Brought in as a replacement for Luas Hernandez, he will now look to cement a place at the heart of the defense for the champions.
Lois Openda, RB Leipzig
RB Leipzig hope to have found a new top scorer in Openda, who is coming off a breakthrough season in French Ligue 1, where he scored 21 league goals for Lens.
Xavi Simons, RB Leipzig
Paris Saint-Germain activated a buy-back clause to re-sign Simons from PSV after a sensational campaign in which the 20-year-old finished top scorer in the Dutch Eredivisie with 19 goals. Simons was then sent on loan to Leipzig, who now hope to benefit from the youngster's dazzling talent.
Robin Gosens, Union Berlin
A 16-time German international, Gosens has never actually played in the Bundesliga, having left his homeland at a young age for the Netherlands. After joining Union Berlin on a permanent basis from Inter, the attacking left-back will finally get a chance to show what he can do in the German top flight.
Victor Boniface, Bayer Leverkusen
With Patrik Schick still out for a while, Leverkusen have decided to bring in a capable replacement in Victor Boniface, who scored 17 goals and provided 12 assists for Belgian side Union Saint Gilloise last season.
Lovro Majer, VfL Wolfsburg
After long and difficult negotiations with Rennes, Wolfsburg finally got their man, paying a reported €25 million to bring Lovro Majer to Germany. Known as a technically gifted player with great passing ability, the 25-year-old should be more than capable of replacing the young Felix Nmecha, who has gone to Dortmund.
Joakim Mæhle, VfL Wolfsburg
One of the Danish national team's biggest scoring threats for several years, Wolfsburg have acquired a marauding full-back with an eye for goal.
Franck Honorat, Borussia Mönchengladbach
After losing several key players in attack, Gladbach have brought in fresh blood, with French winger Honorat one of the most exciting new names.
Tomas Cvancara, Borussia Mönchengladbach
Cvancara has been given the tough task of filling the void left by Marcus Thuram, and while he can't be expected to do so from day one, the tall Czech striker is certainly a player with plenty of potential and goal threat, having almost averaged a goal every two games for Sparta Prague.
