Tuchel gives squad update ahead of games against Eintracht and Real Madrid

With Saturday's game against Eintracht Frankfurt and Tuesday's Champions League clash against Real Madrid on the horizon, Bayern Munich coach Thomas Tuchel gave an update on his squad on Friday, including Leroy Sané and Serge Gnabry.

Bayern Munich coach Thomas Tuchel has given an update on his squad ahead of Saturday's Bundesliga clash with Eintracht Frankfurt and Tuesday's Champions League semifinal first leg against Real Madrid.

Tuchel revealed that Dayot Upamecano is a doubt for Saturday's game after picking up a knock in training. Meanwhile, injury-marred wingers Serge Gnabry and Leroy Sané will be rested on Saturday in the hope that they'll both be fit enough to start against Real Madrid on Tuesday.

"Dayot Upamecano rolled his ankle in training, he's a doubt for tomorrow. We will have to wait and see. Serge Gnabry will play on Tuesday and score a goal. We will have to wait and see about Leroy Sané for Tuesday. He's having his first individual training session, so we can't make any predictions," Tuchel told reporters.

After being rested against Union Berlin last week, Jamal Musiala is set to return to the starting line-up tomorrow, Tuchel confirmed.

"Jamal is an absolutely key player," Tuchel stressed, adding:

"He will start tomorrow and play without pain. It's a great credit to our staff, he's very important for us.

Asked if he can use the Eintracht game to test some of the things he's looking to implement against Real Madrid, Tuchel said:

"We can't practice anything for Real against Frankfurt, it's a completely different situation. Against Frankfurt and against Stuttgart, the Madrid game will be a background noise. That's part of it, but against Frankfurt and Stuttgart we'll still be there. We have to accept that.

“We want to put in a top performance tomorrow because we need the points and we want to keep the momentum going. So we'll take it one step at a time and prepare the team in the best possible way for tomorrow.”
