Bayern bosses discuss Eberl's future after Hoeneß endorsement

Bayern Munich sporting director Max Eberl has responded to Uli Hoeneß' recent public backing, expressing his gratitude while acknowledging that the final decision regarding his future remains in the hands of the club's supervisory board.

Hoeneß recently stated that Eberl's contract would "100%" be extended. Asked about those comments, the 52-year-old admitted they were encouraging to hear.

"I was very pleased with Uli's words on Thursday, I make no secret of that. One prefers to hear praise rather than criticism. I'm trying to do the job for Bayern Munich and convince the people who make the decisions that I'm not a bad choice. In the end, the supervisory board will decide. If they want me to continue, then I'm ready to talk."

Club president Herbert Hainer also commented on Hoeneß' remarks but stopped short of confirming that an extension had already been decided.

"I assume Uli meant that we're very satisfied with this transfer window. We had agreed beforehand that we were looking to strengthen two positions: a backup option in attack and more pace in defense."

Hainer praised the club's work during the summer window, highlighting both Bayern's incoming and outgoing business.

"I'm convinced we've filled those needs with two very good players. At the same time, I believe we've also moved on more than ten players and generated transfer income, which was another objective. We still have four weeks left in the window to possibly find clubs for one or two more players."

However, Hainer emphasized that Eberl's future is ultimately a matter for the supervisory board.

"Regarding the question, that's a matter for the supervisory board. And I'm convinced the supervisory board will make the right decision. I should also say that the same applies to Jan-Christian Dreesen – we're just as satisfied with the work he has done."

While Hoeneß has made his support for Eberl clear, Bayern have yet to officially announce whether the sporting director's contract will be extended. For now, both Eberl and Hainer have made it clear that the final decision will come from the club's supervisory board.
