FC Bayern Munich announced a significant injury setback on Saturday evening.

The German champions confirmed that Serge Gnabry will be out for “a longer period of time” after suffering an adductor muscle tear in his right thigh.

FC Bayern didn't provide a specific timeline for Serge Gnabry’s recovery, but with the season drawing to a close, it's highly uncertain if he will return to action this campaign.

According to Bild, Gnabry is expected to be sidelined for two to three months. That timeline would see him miss the remainder of Bayern’s season and cast serious doubt over his availability for Germany at the upcoming World Cup.

The injury comes at a bad time for Bayern, with semi-final ties in both the DFB-Pokal and the UEFA Champions League approaching.

Bayern Munich can secure the Bundesliga title on Sunday with at least a draw against VfB Stuttgart.
