Former 1. FC Heidenheim attacker Jan-Niklas Beste may be on his way back to German football. Some five months after the 25-year-old moved abroad for the first time in his career, RB Leipzig may be preparing to secure him on loan from Portugal's SL Benfica. This is reported by the local Leipziger Volkszeitung as well as Sky Sports.

Working mostly as a left-rail player, Beste scored eight league goals and pocketed 13 assists for Heidenheim last year. His impressive season not only helped his club qualify for Europe, but also earned him a German national team call-up. The Hamm-native had to withdraw from Julian Nagelsmann's team with injury before he could be capped.

At Benfica, Beste has made 19 appearances and logged 783 minutes. The sources reporting on the Leipzig rumors claim that the Portuguese side is also willing to sell him. Both Sky and the LVZ also note that EPL side Crystal Palace serve as other potential suitors for the €14-million-valued player.
