VfL Bochum's managing director Ilja Kaenzig has opened the door for Bayern Munich's Leon Goretzka for a return to his hometown club.

“Leon made many people in Bochum proud. He will now play at the highest level once more before hopefully returning.

"That is our great wish, and hopefully his as well. Once the Ruhrstadion is fully renovated, that would be a good time.

"We'll see how long his next contract runs; after that, he might sign his last one at Castroper Straße," Kaenzig said, speaking to BILD.

Although it seems more likely that Goretzka will move abroad next, fans of Bochum will undoubtedly have high hopes for a comeback.

The midfielder played a total of 36 games for Bochum in the 2012-13 season, contributing his share of 4 goals and 8 assists.
