Bayer Leverkusen forward Victor Boniface was involved in a car accident following his side's 2-1 win over Eintracht Frankfurt, according to several reports.

A club source told Reuters that Boniface, who scored Leverkusen's winning goal on Saturday, was doing well after being involved in the accident.

Boniface took to Instagram on Sunday to share pictures and a video of a smashed car in posts that have since been deleted. He also posted what appeared to be a picture of his hand covered in blood.

As reported by Bild, the Nigerian forward was a passenger in his Mercedes, which was on its way to Frankfurt airport on Sunday morning. After the car hit a truck, he suffered minor injuries to his hand.

The report quotes police sources as saying that the driver lost control of the car due to fatigue and veered from the middle lane to the right, hitting the truck. The collision caused the Mercedes to overturn.

The driver and Boniface were treated and examined in hospital and have since returned safely to Köln. The driver of the truck was unhurt. Total damage is estimated at just under €200,000.
