Eintracht Frankfurt vs. Viktoria Plzen preview: Team news and predicted lineups

Here is our preview of Thursday's Europa League clash between Eintracht Frankfurt and Viktoria Plzen, including predicted lineups.

Eintracht Frankfurt go into their Europa League opener against Viktoria Pilsen on Thursday in good form after three straight wins.

Striker Omar Marmoush was on target again in the 2-0 win over Gladbach, taking his tally to four in four league games this season.

The Czech side, on the other hand, are coming off a painful 3-0 defeat at the hands of Slavia Prague, but it's worth noting that it was only their first defeat of the season.

Remarkably, goalkeeper Marian Tvrdon was taken off at half-time after a poor first-half performance and is likely to start on the bench against Eintracht, with Martin Jedlicka coming in for him.

Eintracht, who won the Europa League in 2022, played in the Conference League last season when they were eliminated by Union Saint-Gilloise in the knockout round.

A sixth-place finish in the Bundesliga qualified Eintracht for the league phase of the Europa League, while Plzen had to beat Hearts in a qualifier to reach this stage after finishing third in the Czech league last season.

On the injury front, Oscar Højlund and goalkeeper Kevin Trapp are definitely out for Eintracht, while Mario Götze is doubtful after missing Saturday's 2-0 win over Gladbach due to a groin injury.

Viktoria Plzen will be without Rafiu Durosinmi, Christophe Kabongo, Cheick Souare and Jan Sykora, while Viktor Baier is questionable.
