VfL Wolfsburg pulled off a transfer coup late in the window by signing Denmark international Christian Eriksen on a free transfer.

According to Sport Bild, Bayer Leverkusen and VfB Stuttgart were also interested in the 33-year-old, but ultimately lost out to Wolfsburg.

The report adds that Eriksen turned down more lucrative offers from Turkey, Saudi Arabia and the United States as well.

In the end, the former Tottenham and Manchester United star decided Wolfsburg was the right fit, signing a contract until 2027 that will see him earn less than €5 million per year.

The Danish midfielder could potentially make his Wolfsburg debut against Borussia Dortmund on Sunday.
