Heidenheim sign SC Freiburg II striker

Top tier Bundesliga side 1. FC Heidenheim unveiled SC Freiburg II attacker Maximilian Breunig as a new signing on Thursday afternoon. 

Amid rumors circulating over the potential signing of SV Wehen Wiesbaden midfielder Robin Heußer and SSV Ulm attacker Leonardo Scienza, 1. FC Heidenheim have unveiled an unexpected name to serve as their fifth summer signing. Twenty-three-year-old SC Freiburg II striker Maximilian Breunig will join the Albogen club on a free. Being signed a deal valid through 2027 on Thursday. 

Breunig joined Freiburg two years ago. He made one Bundesliga and one Europa League appearance for the senior SCF squad. This past season spent playing with the Freiburg reserves in the 3. Liga, Breunig netted 11 league goals and registered one assist for the Breisgauer youths. He's been capped once at Germany U19 level. 

"We are delighted that Maximilian will be joining our FCH this summer," Heidenheim Head-of-Sport Robert Strauß noted in a club statement, "he is still open to development at the age of 23. We that he will take these next sporting steps together with us and thus contribute to our big goal of once again achieving class preservation."

"Signing a contract with FCH is a big dream come true for me," the player himself noted, "After my Bundesliga debut with SC Freiburg, I'm looking forward to playing for FCH on the grandest German football stage soon. I definitely want to make the most of this opportunity."
