Report: Heidenheim close in on fifth summer signing

Lower Saxony's "Braunschweiger Zeitung" reports that 1. FC Heidenheim are set to outpace 2. Bundesliga competitors and sign SV Wehen Wiesbaden midfielder Robin Heußer on a free.

FC Heidenheim's proactive approach to squad planning ahead of their second season in the German top flight continues to generate new transfer news. Lower Saxony's Braunschweiger Zeitung reports that the Albogen club are poised to complete their fifth summer signing.

Julian Niehues (1. FC Kaiserslautern), Luca Kerber (1. FC Saarbrücken), and Sirlord Conteh (SC Paderborn 07), and SV Darmstadt 98 midfielder Mathias Honsak have already been signed ahead of the new season. Only Conteh cost the FCH money. The remaining players were signed on frees.

SV Wehen Wiesbaden central midfielder Robin Heußer - according to the paper - will be the fourth player to arrive on a free. The 25-year-old sits on an expiring contract with relegation threatened Wiesbaden. He started all 33 league fixtures for Wehen this season.

Local club Eintracht Braunschweig were among Heußer's suitors, but the player will obviously not pass up the opportunity to play in the top flight. The Aschaffenburg native signed with Wiesbaden from Ulm in 2022. Reports continue to suggest that Heidenheim will also sign Ulm attacker Leonardo Scienza.
