Kicker Report: Austrian defensive talent passes Union medical

Germany's preeminent footballing publication reports that 1. FC Union Berlin's second summer signing has already past his medical and is due to be unveiled soon.

Having already introduced a new addition for the attack, 1. FC Union Berlin will reportedly have a defensive signing to introduce before the day is out. Germany's Kicker Magazine reports that Austrian international Leopold Querfeld has passed his medical in Köpenick. The 20-year-old Rapid Wien central defender has become a regular with his Austrian Bundesliga side at a very young age.

Kicker reports that Querfeld - also a part of Ralf Rangnick's side for the coming European Championships - will arrive in Köpenick via an exit clause in his current contract. The youngster already maintains an estimated market worth of €5 million in the latest transfermarkt listings. Querfeld scored three goals and registered one assists in 38 appearances across all competitions for Wien last season.
