Having already missed the derby defeat to 1.FC Köln, Tim Kleindienst will be unavailable for Borussia Mönchengladbach again on Sunday.
The crucial match against TSG Hoffenheim sees a side Gladbach ranked bottom of the table face the 17th-placed Sinsheimers.
"It's bitter for him [Kleindienst], it's bitter for us. Of course, it's a time when we could really, really use him," said coach Alexander Blessin.
The experienced striker now joins both Jan Leszczynski and Fritz Fleck will also be sidelined for the time being.
Blessin cited knee problems as the cause of Leszczynski's injury, while last weekend's debutante Fleck suffered a severe strain.
"We'll have to see how things develop over the next few days," explained Blessin in his press conference regarding 19-year-old Fleck.
The match against Hoffenheim also comes too soon for Franck Honorat and Ko Itakura, but there is a glimmer of hope for Nicolas Kühn.
Blessin said they are “still weighing up” if the on-loan player from Como 1907 could return after his torn muscle bundle in his left thigh.
In addition to the current absences, Jens Castrop remains sidelined, while new signing Enzo Leopold is nursing a torn cruciate ligament.
